Almost every week, our humans have to go and buy feed for the horses. We usually help with this job, and mostly we travel to the feed store in a green ute called George.
We like George because we sit up the front on the bench seat with our human, and we generally have the windows down and get to smell the breeze. He is quite noisy and rattles and feels very fast, although we don’t think he is actually fast as other cars go past us.
When we get to the store if the store dog is not in the shop, we go in and the girls behind the counter give us a treat. We sit very nicely and bark until we get our treat. If the store dog is in the shop we can’t go in as he is very big and wants to play, and we end up making too much noise and mess. When he is in the shop the girls behind the counter bring our treats out to the car.
We go down to the big shed and the boys in the shed fill George up with bags of food and hay. They can stack George up very high, and he can still carry everything – even though he is not fast he is very strong.
We come home and then get watch the humans pull everything out of the car and put it all in the feed room. Sometimes we get out and roll in the old hay.
We love going to the feed store as the trip there and back is great fun and the people at the feed store are very nice.
