Our humans decided we needed to go to Bathurst again to buy more hay, and weren’t we in for a treat!
On our way up to Lithgow it was very windy, and we started to see all this white stuff on the ground. We couldn’t tell what it was, but our human driver started to go very slow (even slower than when he drives George – our green Stout).
We had our noses on the window and the window was freezing, it was just as well the heater was going inside the car.
We drove down to Lithgow and the white stuff disappeared, and then it appeared again and it was even thicker. There was no green left on the ground – all the grass had disappeared and the white stuff was stuck on the leaves of the trees. Everything was white, even the air, the road and lots of the cars going the other way. Our humans told us the white stuff was snow.
We made it in to Bathurst and the snow disappeared again. The very big boys from Bathurst helped load the hay, and we nearly went sideways when we drove through water on the causeway to get out of their farm. Our human driver yelled out a very loud swear word, but we were all OK and made it safely to the other side.
He told our other human he won’t go back there until the water on the causeway is a lot lower.
And then something fantastic happened, our humans found a safe spot away from the busy road to park and we all got out in to the snow.
We were shocked, we thought it might be like the sand at the beach but it felt quite different and was really cold. We loved it and because it was cold we had to jump around and bark, rumble with each other and play with a stick.
One of our humans then found a white ball from the ground and threw it in to the air. We jumped up to catch it and when Scoot put it in her mouth it just disappeared. We looked around and couldn’t find it so our human found another one. This time we missed it and it landed on the ground and we lost it again. So then our human found another one…..it was amazing! She called them snow balls.
And then it was time to get back in the car. Our humans dried our feet with a towel and we lay on a woollen blanket on the back seat with the heater going to warm up.
We had a lovely sleep and then on the way home our humans stopped at the Hillbilly Cider place at Bilpin. They had some lovely pizza’s, pear cider and coffee. We got to taste some of the ham from one of the pizza’s and it was very tasty. Our humans commented that the pizza was fantastic, and the Hillbilly Pear Cider is one of our human’s favourite drinks. They are also very welcoming of visiting dogs, and the resident Hillbilly Cider dogs are very friendly and pretty laid back.
Another wonderful day.
