Raising Scoot

When I was just over 1 year old, one of my human’s took me for a drive, and we went and waited in a car park for a while. Eventually a funny looking truck full of all different types of dogs pulled up, and a man handed us baby Scoot.

Well, as it turns out, Scoot and I have the same mother and father, and she came down in the truck with all those other dogs all the way from the Sunshine Coast.

I sat in the back with her on the trip from the carpark to home, I was in my seatbelt and she was in the soft crate that I travelled in when I was a puppy. She was very noisy and barked all the way home. Once she was home, she settled down and was very happy to explore.

I decided I needed to teach Scoot a few things. We started with a simple game of sock tug-o-war. There are always plenty of smelly socks hanging around that are perfect for this game. Our humans have provided us with some other items for tug-o-war, which look like special pieces of rope with knots and tassels, but we just prefer a dirty sock.

I also taught Scoot how to lie just outside the kitchen so we can watch the food being moved around by our humans, and where all the good sleeping spots are.

We eventually took Scoot in the pool and taught her how to find the step, but she wasn’t allowed to swim without a human until she was almost one.

I also started to take Scoot down to the creek behind our property, but this upset the humans and they decided we needed to stay in the house yard unless they were with us. We didn’t mind this too much as the house yard is very big with lots of activities and places to play and hide.

I showed Scoot how to travel in the car without barking, and she loves the car now. She also likes things that I like, such as going to the beach, going to dog friendly restaurants, and meeting new dogs.

I think we were lucky to get Scoot. She is quite a good sister although now that she is big she does like to play rough, and I don’t get to win all the games anymore. However, she is good fun and I am so pleased to have her with me all the time.

That’s a great story today, Bryte. Glad you and Scoot are such good friends.

What lovely siblings you are girls. Both as beautiful as each other and very smart so you don’t need to be jealous.

Let’s face it, redheads are the best!
