Well, finally the Queensland borders opened at the beginning of December so we could go to see our brother Gus, and our humans could go and see their family.
We love travelling to Queensland by car as we get to stop in lots of great places. This time, on the way up we stayed at Port Macquarie, and got to visit Nobby’s Beach, the best off leash dog beach we have been to. We always finish the first day of travel with a swim at Nobby’s, and then start the second day of travel with another swim. This way we get to stretch our legs and burn off a bit of excess energy.
One new highlight for this trip was meeting the fantastic crew at Oliver’s Real Food at Ferry Park, Maclean. The view from their deck is stunning, they allowed us on to the deck with our humans, they bought us out lovely fresh water, and they were super friendly. Our humans loved their coffee and food, and decided that this should be our regular stop on day two of our North bound travel. Highly recommended for anyone travelling with their family of humans and dogs.
Our second new highlight was on the way home. We couldn’t stay in our normal dog friendly apartment, Salt by the Sea at Port Macquarie as we were too late booking. However, we found a wonderful place to stay in Wingham, just near Taree. This was The Bank Guesthouse.
We had the Garden Room, which looked out on to an amazing garden that we could run in safely, and that was fully secure. Our humans think it was the most comfortable bed they slept in on the entire trip, and the room was very nicely appointed. The tariff even included a cooked breakfast for our humans in the main bank building. They also have another room in the garden area that is fully accessible – this would be perfect for someone that had an assistance dog, or needed accessible accommodation.
Scoot accidently went exploring and found her way in to the building, and in to the kitchen to meet the cook! Didn’t she get a surprise…. After this, Scoot stayed in the garden whilst the humans had their breakfast. Scoot said that the building was beautifully appointed inside with lots of original old furniture, and lots of local history on display
Again, very friendly people, and definitely on the highly recommended list, travelling with or without dogs.
We will update you on our Queensland stay in our next blog!
