Working Dogs

Some days we have to go to work.

This means that we travel in the car with one of our humans, and we watch him nail things on to horses feet. It can be quite tiring as we have to watch very closely, and all the humans that belong to the horses want to rub our fur.

When Scoot was very small she had to learn to stay in the car, and sometimes wore a rope. Now she is very good at staying in the car and relaxes on the tail gate….except for the time she chased a chicken over at Terrey Hills! The chicken was OK and the human that belonged to the chicken didn’t mind too much.

The best part about doing this job is that sometimes we get to eat the pieces of horse that our human cuts off their feet. It tastes surprisingly good.

Megan now comes with our human to help him do things to the horses feet, and sometimes our human sits on the tail on watches Megan do all the work with us.

When our human drives around, everything jangles in the back of the car as all the metal things bump in to each other. The car smells like old horses feet, and sometimes we even find old food wrappers that still have flavour in them on the floor. It is the perfect car for a working dog.
